very cool to see a prezi presentation! well done, it looks awesome! loved all the star trek references :)
norman is funny- in most of the articles i read, he states a point of view, but he always ends up saying BUT, like in your case, organization with both taxonomy and taskonomy is best, and with my article, it was gestural interface can be good, but it best when combined with more traditional things like visual menus etc...
Very nice, Andrew. Each time I look at one of these prezis I have to think there is a particular way the information is cognitively organized... well, now that I type this... I know it is organized differently, because it isn't linear, like PowerPoint. It's more like a mindmap. Maybe. What do you think?
Thanks Lindsay, I think your idea of combining gestures with menus is right up Norman's alley so to speak, and I suspect he would agree with you!
Thanks Sarah, yes I love prezi because it can be like a mind map, grouping similar things together. But you can also do the same with PPT. The difference is that you can zoom in and out from/to different sections with prezi, so the focus is on the speaker if prezi was used as a tool in a F2F session. The path tool should be used carefully in prezi, as that turns it into a linear presentation. To make it a true mind map, prezi needs an addition - a floating menu on the side of the page that lists the main nodes of the mindmap, so that you can easily jump to different sections. That said, the zoom function also works well for this.
